Four rooms, four different reasons to be in them.
There was a training. Not the kind where you check your phone under the table. A room full of people who would not normally end up in the same place, everyone leaning forward at a slightly different angle depending on how much coffee had kicked in by that point. I left with a notebook full of half legible scribbles and the specific tired that comes from thinking hard about something for a good while.
There was the padel event. I was not there to play. I was there representing work, standing at the edge of the court instead of on it, watching people take a recreational sport far more seriously than it probably deserves, in a good way. Different kind of tired than the training. The kind that comes from being on for a stretch of hours rather than sitting and thinking.
There was OSHA training. The one everyone groans about until they are sitting in it. Fire extinguisher classes. Ladder angles. The kind of thing nobody wants to give up time for until the day they badly need to have given it.
There was the doctors' breakfast. Early, too early, the kind where the eggs are still warm from whatever form they were in before someone turned them into eggs. This one was mostly about rTMS. It went further than expected, past the theory and into how the machine actually works. A room full of people who fix bodies for a living, sitting around with bad coffee, getting into the mechanics of a treatment between bites. Comparing notes over toast is a strange kind of intimacy.
I keep thinking about that last one.
If rTMS is something you have heard of but never really understood, or something you have wondered about for yourself or someone close to you, message me. I will walk you through what the machine does and how it works.
There is one more training I am leaving out for now. That one is closer to me than the rest, so it gets its own post: read it here.
